On-Line Measuring Techniques
Example: The UV- Process Sonde
This is a new development in the on-going measurement of UV-Absorption, dissolved organic,
water-based substances after the DIN 38404 method.
The recording of the total organic load would by rule normally be carried out through the
determination of the so called sum of parameters (TOC, COD, BOD)
With an apparent extremely simple Sonde (without sampling, and sample preparation, without
reagents) on on-going measurement of the UV- Absorption (by 254 nm), dissolved organic,
water-based substances, we carry out research projects for Sewage treatment works
(In and Outflow), food industry etc. Parallel to that, similar obtained BOD/COD
measurements show a good correlation between the UV-Extinction Value at 254nm and
the COD/ BOD values, especially the maximum and minimum pollution loading, which
through the records of directives can be made more clearer.
Without great apparent and financial expense, it is possible to report
completely, within a short time (e.g. within a 3 minute interval) the pollution
load of a waste-water as well as changes and disturbances (e.g. during the night
shift, or by the in and outflow of the sewage works) and the obtained data can be
documented with a recorder to set controls.
With the UV Process Sonde, the exact pollution loading of a waste-water can
be documented over a whole year. This can be an important argument against
unfair water and waste-water rates., that are not based on an objective database.
With these innovative measurement techniques, we offer a low-priced and
low-maintenance alternative to COD, BOD, TOC/DOC
